Today (June 5th) is World Environment Day, a perfect opportunity to recognize members of the next generation who are doing their part to help out the planet.

In April, we announced the winners of our Canada’s Next Green Journalist competition. All eight winning entries went on to compete in the international Litter Less competition. Sponsored by the Wrigley Foundation and as part of Young Reporters for the Environment – an international program run by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) – the Litter Less competition encourages youth from around the world to submit their multimedia solutions for reducing litter.

FEE announced this year’s winners and we’re excited to say that seven Canadian youth are receiving awards this year – Canada’s best showing to date! Here are the winning entries:

Prize: $1000 and $500 for her school

3rd place

Connie Le (Woodbridge, ON)

Grade: 12

In addition to their prizes, the international winners will also be invited to an international reporting mission this fall in Portugal.
